New Business

Convention Location Proposals Bryan Wilczewski and Mike Corrigan to present options to membership.

Brian Wilczewski - Dead wash on proposals. One dollar here and there, maybe save $500 overall. Best argument is to try something different and try to cut Casper convention costs in the future. The move would gain leverage with Casper Holiday Inn for better rates. Distance irrelevant, road conditions are normally very good north of Casper.

Mary Stack spoke about the quality of the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Trinidad asked about atrium. Faye clarified size. Red Wing spoke on if it is a mistake to move. Need more advertising at convention for membership increases.

Mike Corrigan - Casper location (committee instead of one person no matter location) Have tried to drive prices down and are getting best rate of any convention. Would accept Riverton, Thermopolis or other centrally located site, Sheridan to far in inclement season and $1.00 here or there really no big deal. May loose half of southern part of state. May need to approach other hotels in town. Convention person may need to travel to Sheridan, added expense.

Comments by Membership:

►Travis Bennett felt travel distance a big deal if convention is located along border, since it affects everyone.

►Kathy Clymer mentioned Thermopolis location, nice rates in January probably cheaper ($42/night)

►Doc Bob thought there might be a problem with bylaws , central location critical.

►Mike Corrigan - mentioned room occupancy and fire code

►Walt Faye makes a motion to hold the convention in Casper. Motion was seconded.

Membership Discussion:

►Red Wing added that no matter which location is selected more advertising needs to be done. Adding the draw of big names such as Michael Martin Murphy.

►Travis Bennett reminded Red Wing that we are not a Mountain Man club, but a Shooting organization.

Motion passed. None opposed.

Tony mentioned that he had received several thank you letters from young 4-H shooters concerning the association donations.

Convention Committee:

Mike Corrigan spoke on next years convention January 8-10, 1999. Mike wondered if the membership would like some Friday night entertainment?

Dave Tyrell felt time is spent visiting and a social activity would be best rather than a program event.

Other comments included: No ladies activities this year. Speakers seminars too early.

Kathy Clymer said more non-shooting oriented workshops were needed.

Tony announced that the remaining schedule for tonight included an Open house poolside before dinner at 5:30, followed by the auction. Gary Milhouse moved to adjourn. Motion seconded and passed

Meeting was adjourned at 3:07 pm
