WSMLA General Member’s Meeting                                  January 13, 1996

Meeting called to order at 1:43 p.m.

WSMLA President Dave Tyrell thanked everyone for coming. Special thanks to Mike Corrigan, Phil Niessan, Lee Hardin, the Gun Fair demonstrators and the people who put the December newsletter together at the last minute (Bryan Youngberg and Mike Cash).

Minutes: The reading of the 1995 Convention minutes was dispensed with, since they had been published in the 1995 January/February newsletter and posted at the convention next to the registration table. There were no minutes for the May 1995 and July 1995 board meetings.

Treasurer’s Report: Scott Gormley presented an accounting of the 1995 expenditures and income. See attached ledger sheet from January 12th Board Meeting. Scott pointed out such unusual expenditures as volume purchase of shooting medallions, a CD purchase and a $200 donation to Pierce family. Bottom line was that we were in the black by approximately $400.

Guest Speakers and Presentations

Introduction of NRA representative: Will Lederer - rep for CO and WY, lives in Cheyenne. Just wanted everyone to know he was available. Will explained he was active with the Friend’s of NRA, and that they help put on auctions and fund raisers for shooting affiliates. Will is also active with various educational programs such as the Eddie Eagle Program. Fifty percent of proceeds from fund raisers go to the NRA and are used specifically for the Eddie Eagle program. Will also mentioned NRA involvement in gun safety programs, Boy Scout programs and women’s self defense training. None of the money from donated funds goes to salaries or administrative costs. If anyone has any needs along these lines get a hold of Will at the following address:      Will Lederer

Phil Niessan and Tony Larvie have been helping out throughout the year. Jim asked everyone to please come and support the OWNR. Joe Delleron said he would like to dispell some rumors. Joe stated, “This is what is going on ...” the OWNR is currently involved in a lawsuit with the NMLRA over the Western Nationals and that this suit will probably be an on going issue for some time to come.

Tony Larvie and Phil Niessan presentation - Tony and Phil are coordinating shoots at the OWNR Rendezvous. They requested that anyone interested in helping with range officering and running shoots contact them.
